East Yorkshire Country Estate

The surveys have also incorporated the Grade I Listed Summer Pavilion, constructed prior to 1737, a Grade II Listed Stable Block and a good example of an early Victorian heated wall to the Kitchen Garden.

The Estate is a privately owned park which is included on English Heritage’s Register of Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England, where it is awarded Grade II* status. This puts it in the top 40% of the c1450 landscapes on the Register, classifying it as being of national significance, with exceptional historic interest. In partnership with the Landscape Agency, WR Dunn & Co Ltd. was commissioned to prepare an Historic Landscape Management Plan of the estate, which was led by Ian Smith, Chartered Building Surveyor for WR Dunn & Co Ltd.

The surveys have also incorporated the Grade I Listed Summer Pavilion, constructed prior to 1737, a Grade II Listed Stable Block and a good example of an early Victorian heated wall to the Kitchen Garden.

The Historic Landscape Management Plan was used to inform crucial decisions about the future direction of estate management, and to identify parkland features and structures which were in need of repair and/or restoration, and where funding was available to assist. As a result, Natural England provided grant funding for extensive conservation repairs to the major structures on the site - the Stables, Summer Pavilion, Walled Garden and Peach House. Again, Ian Smith led the design and contract administration for the various elements across the estate, delivering the projects on budget despite an extremely harsh winter which caused significant disruption to the works.
